Stone steps with a teal handrail leading up to the glazed front door of Taybeh Guest House, lit warmly at dusk

A family home in the hills of Taybeh

Seven rooms in a restored 1960s house, breakfast every morning, a garden full of life, and a host who knows the roads of Palestine.

A 1960s village house, restored by Shadi himself

Shadi Bassir has spent fifteen years running a tourism company for visitors from abroad, bringing people and cultures together. For his own guest house he renovated this 1960s home himself, keeping its original character and filling its rooms with pieces of village life — embroidery, old harvest tools, an iron key still in its teal door.

For Shadi, hospitality is not a service. It is a story you share with every guest.

Tradition says Taybeh — “good and kind” — was named for the way its people welcomed travellers.

Breakfast every morning. Dinner when you ask.

A traditional Palestinian breakfast is included with every stay — made from local produce, with eggs from our own hens and vegetables and herbs from the garden, so it changes with the seasons. Vegetarian and vegan on request; all meals are halal. Lunches and dinners on request.

Behind the house, the garden and the animals

A seasonal organic garden of vegetables and fruit, and a small family of chickens, rabbits and goats. Children love feeding them and collecting the morning’s eggs.

  • I stayed here for two nights. The guesthouse is such a treat and beautiful! Shadi the owner is exceptionally attentive.

  • One thing I really admired was Shadi actually built and designed the property himself. There are so many thoughtful designs aligning the property to traditional Palestinian homes.
